FAQs

Is it safe to ship knives?

Yes, shipping knives is safe using our recommended packaging. Follow our instructions carefully for handling, packaging, and unpacking your knives to ensure safety.

We provide protective sheaths and soft packing materials to ensure your knives remain secure during shipment. Please pack your knives securely to keep the mailman safe!

Why bother sharpening?

Dull knives are dangerous! They slip on food surfaces instead of cutting like you'd expect, causing more injuries than sharp knives.

Besides being safer, sharp knives are more enjoyable to use. Regular sharpening ensures your knives perform optimally.

What items do you sharpen?

We sharpen most standard kitchen knives, or similar dual bevel edge knives.

We do not accept the any of the following:

Items longer than 16 inches including the handle

Micro-serrated, double serrated, or "ever sharp" knives

Ceramic knives

Blades without handles

Saws, woodworking tools, or industrial blades (e.g., table saw blades)

Barber shears or other craft-edged scissors

Straight razors or shaving equipment

Single bevel knives coming soon (i.e. Japanese chef knives)

We can fix minor nicks as part of the sharpening process.

We do not repair bent knives, knives with significant chips, or damaged knife handles at this time.

How long does it take?

Once you place an order, we mail a package to receive the knives. We also provide a paid return label for sending back your knives. Use our packaging and follow our instructions to send in your knives.

Once at our shop, we strive to sharpen your knives in 24 hours.

Once your knives are ready, you will receive a tracking number via email to monitor the shipment's progress.

Isn't it cheaper to buy new knives?

Choosing to sharpen your existing knives instead of buying new knives is a smart, economical, and eco-friendly decision. Here's why:

1. Cost-Effective: Sharpening your knives is significantly cheaper than purchasing new ones. You can essentially get a new knife for $10-$15, much cheaper than any decent knife.

2. Sustainability: Sharpening your knives reduces waste and minimizes your environmental impact. Knives may not all be recyclable.

3. Quality Maintenance: High-quality knives are designed to be sharpened and last for generations. Sharpening maintains the integrity and performance of your knives, ensuring they stay as good as new.

4. Convenience: Professional sharpening can be much more convenient, saving you time and effort.

5. Personal Attachment: We love our knives! Sharpening allows you to keep your trusted knives longer, preserving the comfort and familiarity they provide.
